Why Use a Wiki?
MHS Professional Learning Time Wikipage
One of the best way to start incorporating 21st Century tools into a plan for professional learning is by contributing to one. Wikis are designed for collaboration among groups of users. Wikis can also provide discussion boards for every page, enabling users to engage in ongoing conversations about their developing project.
Setting up and using a wikipage for PLT this year has everything to do with engaging faculty in a professional learning environment, collaborating as a team to ultimately help our students be successful in the classroom and in future careers and society when they leave us.
This is framed picture of a beautiful autumn colored leaf that hangs in our building. It has a drop of water falling from it creating ripples in the water below. The quote says, "Change - We are committed to an environment of creativity and innovation, tapping our resources to explore new options, where every day is a new opportunity, where powerful waves begin as ripples." When I was still in the classroom, I always tried to plan my lessons for where I wanted my students to go versus where they were at to begin with. It was my job to help them reach that goal. My "students" are now education professionals, my colleagues in which I am proud to work alongside. My philosophy is still the same though, working toward where we need to be versus settling for status quo. Creating and actively utilizing our wikipage this year was one way to do this.
